This report presents an analysis of social media posts and threads shared by refugees and local communities in Moldova.

Between January and June 2025, the InfoUnit:

  • Collected 3,816 posts or threads
  • Monitored over 233,818 posts
  • Published 71 informative updates on topics such as legal status, medical services, cash assistance, and other issues
  • Responded to 4,239 community questions
  • Shared information about 466+ free events, training sessions, and courses accessible to both refugee and host communities

Rumors and unverified information can spread rapidly within communities, often with serious consequences. Monitoring social media allows humanitarian organizations and stakeholders to stay aware of community discussions, address misinformation, and identify gaps or shortcomings in the humanitarian response.

In this report, the term “refugees” refers to individuals displaced from Ukraine, including those seeking protection in Moldova under various legal statuses such as temporary protection, asylum applications, or recognized refugee status.

This report forms part of the Accountability to Affected People (AAP) mechanisms of the Refugee Coordination Forum (RCF) in Moldova.

It is issued by InfoUnit, a project implemented by A.O. “Moldova for Peace” with the support of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and by Laolaltă for the civic initiative.
