Since January 2025, Laolaltă has been working with local communities, refugees, and underrepresented groups across Moldova through the project “Empowering refugees and host communities through protection and advocacy activities”, funded by Fondation de France.

Our community centers have hosted a wide variety of activities that bring people together, create safe spaces, and foster solidarity across cultures. From English Book Clubs led by Ukrainian refugees, to Queer and Feminist Book Clubs that amplify marginalized voices, participants have found opportunities to connect, learn, and share their stories.

We have explored critical topics through workshops on discrimination, intersectional feminism, and anti-racism, while creative events like collage making, DJing for women, and banner making for the Feminist March offered tools for self-expression and activism. Our cultural programming – including film screenings, the Dvor Comunitar: Pride Edition, and the Stand-Up Show – has opened new spaces for dialogue, joy, and representation.

In solidarity with global struggles, we organized A Day for Palestine and supported Palestinian families in Moldova with essential resources, while continuing to mark important dates like the International Day of Roma People with events that highlight history, resilience, and community pride.

Throughout these months, Laolaltă’s network of volunteers – locals and refugees alike – has grown, helping to sustain ongoing activities such as the Rainbow Voices English Discussion Club, support groups for families of people living with schizophrenia, and numerous creative, educational, and social gatherings.
