‘Cotileț, evroremonturi and ‘pristroici’. Cats and ‘pisicarese’. Pits and mud. Grocery store and ‘Apa Pură’ (Pure Water). Cars are parked at random. Greenery and singing birds. Flower gardens decorated with tires. Beaten carpets. Cradles of yesterday and today. In one word: ‘DVORUL’ (the yard).
Every ‘dvor’ has stories to tell. This year, together with the participants of the ‘DVOR 2.0’ project, we explored the block yards in Chisinau and discovered their stories, sometimes happier, sometimes sadder. Having reached the end of the project, we decided to share these stories with you in visual form through 15 photos taken by Octavian Fedco. Under the guidance of the participants, we captured in photos the ‘jewels’ in their block yards, souvenirs of long-gone times or, on the contrary, testimonies of modern urban phenomena that have captured the micro-cosmos of the block yards. Each photo captures the pulse of life in the block yards – an eternal symbiosis between people, animals, nature, and infrastructure.
The exhibition debuted on the first day of SCA2023 / Alternative Cultural Spaces and will travel from ‘DVOR’ to ‘DVOR’ throughout the event. The photos were exhibited in the yards of the participants, who were also the hosts of the exhibition.
After the conclusion of SCA2023, the exhibition can still be found at the 151Community Center (151, 31 August 1989 St.).
DVOR 2.0 is a Laolalta community project, in partnership with Peace Winds.
The exhibition ‘From DVOR to DVOR’ took place as part of the SCA2023 event program/ Alternative Cultural Spaces, organized by the Coalition of the Independent Cultural Sector from the Republic of Moldova and the Oberliht Association with the support of the New Democracy Fund (Denmark), the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, Chisinau Mayoralty, and the European Cultural Foundation.
